Climate |
Florida has a semi-tropical climate.
It becomes hot and humid during the months of June through
August. Expect temperatures to exceed 90 degrees F (32
C) and humidity to hover near 100 percent.
The most pleasant weather is usually found during winter
months between December and March when temperatures
are more likely around 75 degrees (25 C) and the humidity
becomes bearable.

Time Zone |
Eastern (most of) Florida is in
the Eastern Time Zone. A small portion of western Florida
is in the Central Time Zone. The Eastern Time Zone is
GMT -5h (five hours behind GMT) during Standard
Time and GMT -4h during Daylight Saving Time. |
Beaches |
Cocoa Beach lies east of
Orlando on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean
and the Banana River Lagoon. The historic Cocoa Beach
Pier extends 842 feet out over the Atlantic. It was
built in 1962 and soon thereafter became the East Coasts
surfing capital.
The pier has restaurants, bars, shops, fishing and beach
rentals overlooking a wide, six-mile long sandy beach.
Numerous festivals are held annually on the pier, as
well. The silky, white sand beaches and crystal clear
water make swimming, snorkeling, deep-sea diving, and
of course, surfing, very popular at Cocoa Beach.
Clearwater
and its island beaches are one of Florida's most popular
vacation spots. Because of the world-reknown beaches,
the extensive recreational opportunities, including
the largest recreational fishing fleet on the West Coast
of Florida, walking distance to restaurants and attractions,
and all types of accommodation. |
